Tech Strategy + Growth @ TaskRabbit
Asset kickstarted and leads the strategy and growth efforts for TaskRabbit, a marketplace platform that conveniently connects people with Taskers to handle everyday home to-do’s, which was acquired by IKEA in 2017. A seasoned investor and former associate of McKinsey and Company, Asset has dual degrees, a Master of Public Administration from Harvard Kennedy School and a Master of Science in Management (MSx) from Stanford Graduate School of Business. He is passionate about empowering local communities and municipal development through technology and innovation. While at Harvard, Asset is working on an open-data project for municipalities, artificial intelligence in public service and a social enterprise on empowering youth via wider access to financial resources. Before his studies, he served as an advisor to the Mayor of Almaty on Innovation and Urban Development. In that capacity, Asset identified and supported more than 200 innovative projects and startups as a part of the first Smart-City project in Central Asia. In partnership with Jan Gehl Architects, he coordinated designing and commissioning five major public spaces in Almaty. In partnership with British Council, he initiated the EU-funded WeAlmaty project that aims to foster civic participation and social inclusion in the city. Before joining Almaty city administration, he held leadership roles in the Organizing Committee of Almaty 2017 Winter Universiade (the second largest sporting competition after the Winter Olympics), Nur Otan political party, Center for International Programs ($100-million scholarship fund) and Administration of the President of Kazakhstan Besides his professional experience, Asset was engaged in and initiated many community service projects such as the first TEDx event in Astana, the first collection of business cases, an international youth forum Shape Eurasia 2014 of the Global Shapers Community.
